SOLID STATE LASER HAVING CLOSED CYCLE GAS COOLED CONSTRUCTION

A solid state laser comprises a housing (10) having a body portion for enclosing optical components (15) thereof. A mounting means (17) is provided for mounting the optical components (15) directly to the housing (10). The housing (10) has stiffness sufficient for spatial and angular positioning of the optical components (15). A cooling means (19) transfers heat from the optical components (15) to the housing (10) by circulation of a preselected gas therewithin.
