A member (1) comprising a base (2) on which is formed a decorative raised pattern (3) consisting of projections (4) and recesses (5). The ridges (6) of the projections (4) form circles and arcs having various radii. The members (1) are symmetrically or asymmetrically arranged on the decorative object (7). The dimensions of the member (1), the correlation between these dimensions, the design formed by the members (1) on the object (7) and the correlation between the sizes of the members are selected in such a way that various patterns, both of the actual members (1) and of the decorative object (7) as a whole, may be achieved. An apparatus for producing said members (1) comprises a blank clamp (17) arranged to enable a significant number of square blanks (301...30p) to be produced simultaneously, whereby the rate at which the blanks (30) are produced may be varied.
