The invention relates to a method for coating objects, preferably profiled objects, with a coating material, such as varnishes and paints, having rollers for supporting and advancing the objects, having means for applying the coating material and means for distributing and smoothing the coating material. The novel device is characterised in that air nozzles (5), arranged after the means for applying the coating material in the running direction of the objects, are provided as means for distributing and smoothing the coating material. <IMAGE>
