Use of y-hydroxy-alkylated silicone oils as additive for the improvement of the optical properties in compositions based on chlorinated polymers.

Use, as additive for improving optical properties (transparency or gloss), of a gamma -hydroxyalkylated polydiorganosiloxane oil containing at least one gamma -hydroxyalkyl functional group per molecule, with a dynamic viscosity at 25@C of the order of 20 to 2,000 mPa s, in compositions containing - 100 parts by weight of a chlorine-containing polymer, - from 0.005 to 2 parts by weight of the said silicone oil, - an effective quantity of at least one heat stabiliser, - from 1 to 20 parts by weight of an impact-improving elastomer. The said compositions may be converted by blow-extrusion, calendering, extrusion, injection moulding, rotational moulding etc., into articles with improved transparency or gloss.
