PURPOSE:To enable a system construction rich in flexibility and contrive effective use of memories in a printer, by providing a reprinting means for a recording medium misprinted due to a trouble in printing, and a means for validating or invalidating a reprinting function of the reprinting means. CONSTITUTION:When a jam recovery switch 208 is locked, an automatic reprinting function for the data subjected to a jam is made valid. When the switch 208 is unlocked by again depressing it, the automatic reprinting function is made invalid. The valid or invalid condition is registered in a flag region FLG in a RAM 203. When the reprinting function upon a jamming is valid, the length of a paper feeding passage in an LBP and the period of time required for operations ranging from paper supply to paper discharge are set on a page opening counter 404 for the page to be printed, in the form of being reduced to the numbers of timer interrupts. When the reprinting function upon a jamming is invalid, a 0 is set to the page opening counter 404 for the relevant page. |
