Laevorotatory and dextrorotatory enantiomers of 1-Ä(4-chlorophenyl)phenylmethylÜ-4-Ä(4-methylphenyl)sulphonylÜ-piperaz ine of formula <IMAGE> their preparation and their use in the preparation of the substantially optically pure enantiomers of 1-Ä(4-chlorophenyl)phenylmethylÜpiperazine which are themselves valuable intermediates in the preparation of optically active therapeutic compounds of very high optical purity.
