An apparatus and a process for low-temperature air separation are described, as well as a pipe manifold and a duct manifold. The air separation apparatus contains a rectification column which has at least one section which is equipped with packings or with a packing, a liquid manifold being arranged above this section. The invention further relates to a liquid manifold for a mass transfer column. The main duct and/or the distribution ducts of the liquid manifold are closed at the top over at least part of their cross-section.
