PURPOSE:To enhance a color forming property, raw preservability and the stability of a developed color image, by having a salicylic acid derivative having a specific electron accepting a salicylic acid derivative having a specific electron accepting compound or a metal salt thereof contained. CONSTITUTION:In a recording material containing an electron donating leuco dye and an electron accepting compound, a salicylic acid derivative having an alkoxy group or an aryloxy group as a substituent or a metal salt thereof is contained as said electron accepting compound. Because the recording material using the above mentioned salicylic acid derivative imparts sufficient developed color density and an extremely stable developed dye and generates no discoloration and fading by light irradiation, heating and humidification over a long time, recording can be preserved for a long period of time. When this material is used in a thermal recording material, it is prevented that an undeveloped part forms a color by a solvent or a developed color material generates discoloration and fading by oils and fats or chemicals. |
