摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To provide the subject method comprising the steps of preceding the amount of gradient with respect to the time of the predetermined amount of variation of reduction position by the time of delay in the control of the mechanical system of the reduction device, and supplying the quantity of gradient to a reduction speed controller thereby to prevent the generation of position delay in the reduction control and increase the stability of the control. CONSTITUTION:In a rolling mill 41, the rolling of a material 42 to be rolled is started at a predetermined rolling speed V, and information relative to the plate length l is successively supplied to an operator 48 from a distance gage 46. Now, when the material has been rolled at an ith position, the operator 48 recognizes that the position of DELTAl.i from the proximal end of the present material 42, and precedently controls the reduction device 43 by V.ltm so that the operator 48 drives said device 43 so as to make said position a target reduction position Xe(li) corresponding to li computed by the formula I. For this reason, gradient values with respect to the time of reduction position change amount in the case where the wavelength is li are delivered to a reduction speed controller 49. Furthermore, the above described gradient values V can be successively obtained from the rolling starting time systematically. According to this method, the response delay of the feed forward control of this kind can be compensated irrespective of the size of the reduction position or the intensity of the frequency.</p>
