PURPOSE:To permit a user to select the optimum ink compsn. corresponding to a use purpose, in the apparatus forming an image by emitting ink, by providing dye-containing inks and clear inks containing no dyes. CONSTITUTION:In an ink jet recording apparatus wherein an image is formed on a material P to be recorded by emitting inks from ink jet units l1Y, 11M, 11C, 11K, dye-containing inks are stored in ink tanks 27Y, 27M, 27C, 27K and clear inks containing no dyes are stored in ink tanks 28A, 28B. An ink compsn. is changed corresponding to a purpose. As a result, inks different in compsn. can be prepared in the ink jet recording apparatus and a user can select the optimum ink compsn. corresponding to a use purpose. |
