<p>PURPOSE:To obtain an image forming apparatus capable of conserving resources and achieving cost reduction by providing a recording means applying thermal recording to a recording medium, a discrimination means discriminating the kind of the recording medium and a setting means setting the operation condition of the recording means corresponding to the recording medium discriminated by the discrimination means. CONSTITUTION:A recording means 15 applies thermal recording to a recording medium consisting of a reversible thermal recording sheet P1 and irreversible thermal recording paper P2. A discrimination sensor 18 discriminates the kind of the recording medium and a setting means composed of a CPU sets the operation condition of the recording means corresponding to the recording medium discriminated by the discrimination sensor 18. Since this image forming apparatus is constituted so as to be capable of applying recording to both of the reversible thermal recording medium capable of erasing a recording image and the irreversible thermal recording medium incapable of erasing the recording image, the reversible and irreversible thermal recording media are properly used as necessary to make it possible to achieve the reduction of use cost and conservation of resources of the recording medium.</p> |
