PURPOSE:To prevent tedious speed change and stage-off speed change by compensating engagement start delay of a band brake at the initial manufacturing time of an automatic transmission by rapidly-increasing engagement pressure. CONSTITUTION:This controller 10 obtains an optimum speed range from throttle opening TH and vehicle speed V detected by sensors 11, 12, and changes speed of an automatic speed changer 2 to the optimum speed range through solenoids 6, 7. The controller 10 increases a band brake engagement pressure more rapidly than usual at a speed according to the throttle opening TH and working oil temperature T detected by the sensor 14 through the solenoid 8 while speed changing frequency is less than 40 at the time of 1 to 2 speed change to be performed by engaging the band brake. It is thus possible to prevent tedious speed change and large speed change shock due to stage-off speed change even if the friction factor of the band brake is small at the initial manufacturing time of the automatic transmission. |
