<p>PURPOSE:To judge misfire condition so as to prevent deterioration of exhaust gas characteristic, and also suppress advance of deterioration of a catalyst device by setting a judging reference for judging misfire condition according to detected deterioration condition of the catalyst device. CONSTITUTION:An electronic control unit(ECU) including the control device for an internal combustion engine comprises a misfire judging means, a catalyst deterioration condition detecting means, and a misfire judging reference setting means. Namely, in a misfire treatment, a deterioration condition of three-way catalyst is calculated in step S1. In step S2, a misfire judging reference value is calculated according to the calculated deterioration condition. In step S3, the misfire judgement is carried out using the reference value. In the misfire judging reference setting means in step S2, the misfire judging reference is set such that the possibility in which a misfire condition is judged is increased, as a detected deterioration condition is larger.</p> |
