PURPOSE:To obtain a detergent composition containing a specific anionic surfactant and a specific amphoteric surfactant in a specified ratio, low-irritative to hair and skin, having a suitable viscosity, excellent in detergency and foamability, and useful for shampoo, etc. CONSTITUTION:This detergent composition contains (A) an N-polyoxyethylene fatty acid amide ether sulfate type surfactant of formula I (R is 7-21C alkyl, alkenyl; (n) is 2-20; M is ammonium, alkali metal, etc.,), and (B) a hydroxysulfobetaine type amphoteric surfactant of formula II (R1 is 8-22C alkyl, alkenyl; R2, R3 are each 1-2C alkyl) in an A:B ratio of 99:1 to 1:1 in an amount of (A+B) of 10-50wt.% based on the total amount of the detergent composition. A saccharide ether type nonionic surfactant of formula III (R4 is a residue produced by removing n X hydroxyl groups from a saccharide belonging to disaccharides or trisaccharides) is preferably added to the detergent composition in a (A+B):C ratio of 99.99:0.01 to 3:1. |
