PURPOSE:To stably produce a long-sized optical fiber porous glass preform. CONSTITUTION:A target rod 3 is set in a reaction vessel position where the upper end is fixed by a grip having a rotating motor not shown in the figure and the lower end is exposed to a flame injected from a fine glass particle synthesizing burner 2, and an observation window 5 fixed by a supporting member 4 and an exhaust port 7 having an exhaust pipe 6 leading to an exhaust gas treating device not shown in the figure is provided in the side face of the vessel 1. An exhaust pipe 9 having an independent exhaust gas treating device is further furnished to the supporting member 4 connecting the vessel 1 and the window 5.
