OZONE DETERIORATION INHIBITOR FOR RUBBER AND RUBBER COMPOSITION CONTAINING THE SAME

PURPOSE:To provide the subject inhibitor which can make a rubber or a rubber product proof against ozone deterioration and is excellent in the appearance of a product and safety and to obtain a rubber composition containing the same. CONSTITUTION:This inhibitor comprises polybutene or its hydrogenation product having a number-average molecular weight (Mn) falling in the ranges of the formula I and II: 26900-3000delta<=Mn<=53900-5500delta (I) and 300<=Mn (II) [wherein deltais the solubility parameter of the objective rubber, and is in the range of 7.7-9.7] and having a ratio (Mw/Mn) of 2.6 or below (wherein Mw is the weight- average molecular weight, and Mn is the number-average molecular weight). A rubber composition containing this inhibitor is obtained.
