<p>PURPOSE:To detect an obstruction within the dazzling area of an opposed vehicle while preventing wrong action to a human. being and the like outside the road by detecting obstructions in an irradiated area and in a nonirradiated area on the basis of the irradiation pattern of a headlight and an infrared image, and emitting alarms separately by the irradiated area and nonirradiated area of the headlight. CONSTITUTION:In an obstruction detecting device for a vehicle, an infrared detecting means is formed of an optical system 2, an infrared detecting part 3 and an A/D converter 4, and an obstruction detecting part 6 and an alarm output part 7 and further provided. When the headlight is not lighted by a headlight switch 5, the obstruction detecting part 6 takes in an infrared image signal from the A/D converter 4 and signals to the alarm output part 7 when the signal of the infrared detecting part 3 is inputted therein. When the headlight is lighted, the obstruction detecting part 6 takes in the infrared image signal on the basis of the irradiation pattern of the irradiation range characteristic of the headlight and simultaneously supplies a strong alarm signal to the alarm output part 7 when the infrared image signal value is within the nonirradiated range.</p> |
