The shuttle is braked in the shuttle-checking device which is provided with a damping mechanism with which the shuttle engages and is thus braked. The shuttle carries a number of elements such as lead shot which can move about in a space or are housed in the shuttle. Elements are also arranged in a space. The damping mechanism may be in the form of a spring-loaded piston. The 3000-g shuttle may travel at a pref. speed of 15 m/sec. ADVANTAGE - The arrangement claimed ensures almost recoil-free shuttle braking. The shuttle can be braked, irrespective of the weight and speed of the shuttle. The elements and the space are so arranged that they prevent shuttle recoil during braking with the aid of their kinetic energy and with that applied to the shuttle. The damping mechanism can be adopted to the weight and speed of the shuttle. |
