The invention relates to a device for stripping optical-fibre support rods with a view to baring the central carrier. The device is in the form of a cutting blade insert (3) mounted in a removable manner in a tool holder, the said blade insert having, on one of its sides, a cutting edge (5) extended by a notch (6) serving as a guide for the central carrier of the fibre support rod, this blade insert being mounted in the fibre carrier perpendicular to the axis of the said rod so that, when the tool holder is given a rotational movement, the material forming the fibre support is cut without breaching the central carrier.
