A sulphonic acid and ferric chloride are directly reacted to give the ferric sulphonate and hydrochloric acid which is removed in the gaseous state, the reaction medium being, during at least part of the duration of the reaction, in the liquid or pasty state. This process is very simple to implement and very economical in energy.
