The present invention relates to portable readers indicating economic and/or geographic data for assisting with movements. The reader according to the invention is characterised essentially in that it includes, in a small bag, a microfilm F of a plurality of transparencies 2-4 on which the data are prerecorded, labelling of each transparency effected on the microfilm, a cassette C including a casing and two revolving reels receiving the microfilm, a receptacle R including a motor and a coupling of the two reels with the motor, a sensor K, a programmer P, a processing unit T for controlling the runout of the microfilm and for bringing the transparency having a programmed chronological index opposite a given point, a lamp S for illuminating the transparency located at the given point, a projection screen and a lens L for projecting the transparency onto this screen. <IMAGE>
