Adaptable bath tub including a receptacle (2), comprising a substantially horizontal base (3), two side walls (4, 5) and two transverse end walls (6, 7), these walls together delimiting a contour having a section which is closed on itself, ending at the top part of these walls in a lip (8) folded towards the outside of the receptacle, the two side walls having longitudinal dimensions which are substantially greater than those of the transverse walls, each of the latter sloping with respect to the vertical by opening out from the base towards the lip of the top part in order to constitute a backrest against which the user's back rests, leant without distinction against one or the other of these transverse walls. According to the invention, the bath tub comprises, opposite each of the transverse walls, projecting towards the inside of the receptacle in its side walls, bearing surfaces (13, 14 - 15, 16) on which both of the user's feet are normally likely to rest when his legs are lying flat against the base of the receptacle, the distances which separate, respectively, the said projecting surfaces of each of the opposing transverse walls being different from each other so as to accommodate the body size of different people but using the same receptacle. <IMAGE>
