The sales display unit consists of cardboard and can be designed in particular as a display for heavy goods. The sales display unit is used to receive and present articles and is formed from joined-together and grooved wall parts in a U-shape, in order to be ready for despatch as a folded element. After unfolding, the side walls, connected by a rear wall, can be used by means of shelves assigned via receptacles to receive articles. The side walls, serving as supports, have a multi-layered structure and are surrounded by at least one decorative outer wall. The side walls possess in their wall plane pockets which are connected to slots pointing transversely outwards and intended for insertable corresponding holding angles of the shelves. Arranged above the slot are pivotable tabs formed by material of the side walls. By means of the tabs, on the one hand in the pivoted-out position, a mounting region is freed above the pockets and, on the other hand in the laid-on position, fixture of an inserted shelf can be effected.
