Clamping and release device for shank-type tools

A clamping and release device for shank-type tools uses a mechanism to draw in the drawbar. The mechanism is actuated by an actuating means and contains elements which concentrically surround the drawbar, so that little space is required. At least one of the elements of the mechanism is rotatable about the axis of the drawbar to produce an axial displacement. In a further development, the mechanism can have a varying transmission ratio.
