摘要

PURPOSE:To realize a recording device in which a high efficiency coder for plural frames is used to attain high speed reproduction with less effect of an error in a transmission line. CONSTITUTION:Video information of a 1st frame to be inputted is given to a frame RAM 2 and a high efficiency coding section 4. Data subject to high efficiency coding by the coding section 4 are recorded on a magnetic tape 7 in a recording format at a 1st frame recording section 5. A difference between input video information after an i-th frame and video information of a preceding frame outputted from the frame RAM 2 is calculated by a difference device 3 and the result is inputted to the high efficiency coding section 4. The high efficiency coding section 4 selects either an i-th frame video information or difference information between the i-th frame and its preceding frame to apply high efficiency coding. The video information of the 1-th frame subject to high efficiency coding is recorded on the magnetic tape 7 based on the recording format at the i-th frame recording section 6. Data of 2nd and succeeding frames are sequentially recorded onto a remaining recording area recording the 1st frame.
