STRUCTURE FOR OPTICAL MODULE

PURPOSE:To improve assembling performance and light propagation characteristics by integrating a sleeve and a cap and fitting them in a cut stem to realize a lensless structure thereby decreasing the number of components. CONSTITUTION:Outer peripheral profile and dimensions of a cap 1 integrated with a sleeve are matched with those of the cut part of a stem 2. Consequently, an optical fiber 4 in an optical module is aligned accurately with an optical element and loss can be reduced in the propagation of light. Since the optical element 5 can be set close to the optical fiber 4 and a lensless structure can be employed, downsizing is realized.
