PURPOSE: To provide a disk array subsystem (das) having a plurality of interchangeable disk drive modules (ddm). CONSTITUTION: A das 11 is provided with top and bottom walls 15 and 17, a pair of side walls 19-1 and 19-2, and a rectangular chassis having open front and rear ends. A fan pack 23 sucks air from the open front end to the outside of the chassis through the inside of the chassis and the open rear end to cool the inside of the chassis. There are power sources 27-1 to 27-3, a pair of control boards 29-1 and 29-2, a rear plate 31, and 20 sets of ddms 33-1 to 33-20 in the chassis. Four first ddm guide plates 35-1 to 35-4 and a pair of second ddm guide plates 37-1 and 37-2 are arranged on the rear plate 31 for the purpose of electrically connecting ddms 33 in the chassis through the open front end. Each first guide plate 35 includes channels with parallel slots, and each second ddm guide plate 37 includes 10 parallel groups. |
