PURPOSE:To provide a superconducting electric-power storage apparatus provided with a control system wherein it can limit a coil current and a current change rate precisely so as to be within a set range, it eliminates a feat that the quenching of a superconducting coil and the control impossibility of the system are caused and it can be operated stably and properly. CONSTITUTION:A superconducting electric-power storage apparatus provided with a current-type electric-power converter composed of a current-change-rate- limitation and control means 8 wherein an effective-power detection value detected by an electric-power detector 5 is divided by the inductance of a superconducting coil and by a coil current value I detected by a coil-current detector to find a current change rate dI/dt and the found current change rate is limited and controlled and a current limitation and control means 7 wherein the current value I is limited and controlled so as to be within a prescribed range on the basis of an effective power value detected by the power detector 5 is obtained.
