DCT/INVERSE DCT ARITHMETIC UNIT

PURPOSE:To provide a DCT/inverse DCT arithmetic unit which has a high computing speed and the high computing accuracy. CONSTITUTION:The input image data are supplied to a one-dimensional N-order DCT/inverse DCT computing element 1 for execution of a one-dimensional N-order reverse DCT operation. Then the result of this operation is stored in an interim result memory 10 as the interim result of an M-dimensional N- order reverse DCT. In the same way, a one-dimensional N-order DCT/inverse DCT computing element 2 performs a one-dimensional N-order inverse DCT operation with the data on the memory 10 used as an input. Then the result of this operation is sent to the memory 10. The same operational processing is carried on with a one-dimensional N-order DCT/inverse DCT computing element M, and the final computing result is used as the output data.
