PURPOSE:To efficiently structure an appropriate user knowledge by providing a means by which a user can register and edit the translation knowledge and displaying the parts where the knowledge registered by the user is reflected among the output translated sentences. CONSTITUTION:A translation knowledge database 6 stores the grammatical/ semantic knowledge for translation and consists of the standard translation knowledge 6-1 which is used in common to the mechanical translation of various documents and the user translation knowledge 6-2 which is edited by users. A user knowledge editing device 7 is used for addition change, deletion, etc., of the contents of the knowledge 6-2. Then a sentence of a 1st language supplied by means of a translation knowledge dictionary and the knowledge 6-2 is translated into a sentence of a 2nd language. The parts translated by the knowledge 6-2 are shown clearly and transmitted to the sentence of the 1st language or a sentence of an input language. Thus it is possible to make clear the application state of knowledge, the mutual interference among plural knowledge, etc., when the translation quality is improved by means of various user knowledges. |
