摘要 PURPOSE:To reduce the loss of transmission by connecting a light reflecting means in the middle of an optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:An optical signal outputted from an optical transmitter 41 of an optical terminal station 40 is made incident on a light reflector 50 through an optical circulator 43, optical fiber 10 and beam splitting coupler 20. The incident and transmitted light and the reflected light are made incident on the optical receiver of each station 40 through the coupler 20, fiber 10 and circulator 43. Thus, all the optical signals generated from any stations 40 are distributed to all the stations 40. During the distribution, each time the optical signal is passed through the coupler 20, it is attenuated by about 3dB. The upper limit of the transmission loss of an optical network is decided by the transmission power of the transmitter 41 and the reception sensitivity of the optical receiver 42. Therefore, the less the number of coulers, the more stations 40 are provided, and the stations 40 twice as many as routes are provided as an average. Each time the number of optical terminal stations is multiplexed, the loss is increased by about 6dB, but the loss of about 3dB is aliminated in this optical network.
