A device (10) for remote call control has a voltage-supplied central unit (12) with a downstream computer (20) with which a speech recognition module (22) is associated and with a filter (30) controlled by a ring detector (32) to set up or clear down a connection between a line terminal (14) and a telephone (16) or the computer (20). Caller messages can be fed speaker-independently in digitised form via an A/D converter (26) with a filter (28) to the speech recognition module (22). A speech synthesis device (24), along with a dialling module (36) and a D/A converter (38) can be activated under computer control for automatic call-back. A keyword device (42) disables or enables device functions. Message texts or output information can be entered using microphones or non-audio means, e.g. a computer keyboard (40), file transfer etc. <IMAGE>
