A housing (1) equipped with a radial bearing and composed of an elastic material bears a radial load (F) acting upwards in a vertical centre plane (11) and has a through hole (7) in which contact loads (10) are supported in a flexible manner in a load zone (8, 9) of the radial bearing. To provide the radial bearing with a long service life despite its relatively thin housing wall (14), at least one strip (19) manufactured from a material with a coefficient of thermal expansion correspondingly different from the material in the housing (1) is firmly connected to an upper peripheral section (17) of the housing wall (14) by bonding, welding or clamping with frictional engagement. When the upper peripheral section (17) of the housing wall (14) heats up to operating temperature, the bore (7) of the housing (1) undergoes a small thermally induced change in its circumferential curvature due to a difference in the thermal expansion of the strip(s) (19) in the region of the load zone (8, 9) of the radial bearing and this change in curvature opposes an elastic change in the circumferential curvature of the bore (7) brought about in this region by the contact loads (10).
