514,136. Batteries. RULAG BATTERY CO., Ltd., Nov. 24, 1938, Nos. 34255 and 34256. Convention dates, Dec. 14, 1937, and Feb. 22, 1938. [Class 53] A sleeve surrounding a lead or leads to the electrodes of a cell, in a liquid tight manner, extends from the exterior of the casing to the interior thereof for a distance greater than that from the adjacent edge of the electrode to the wall through which the leads pass, and has caulking material inserted into it. Sleeves 3, 4, Fig. 1, are attached to the celluloid end wall 2 of a container 1 and lead leads 6, 7 are passed therethrough and sealed in position by caulking material 8 inserted, under pressure, through side apertures 5. Two leads may pass through a single sleeve, Fig. 2 (not shown). In further modifications the sleeves may be formed integral with the walls of the casing, Fig. 3 (not shown), and the leads may have transverse scorings in their surfaces further to prevent the creepage of electrolyte between them and the caulking material, Fig. 4 (not shown). Specification 407,723 is referred to. |
