A description is given of a tilting apparatus for emptying refuse containers (6), in particular for refuse vehicles, having a tilting shaft (4) which is mounted displaceably in a vertical guide (2) of a framework (1), is connected to a lifting drive (15), forms at least one receiving means (5) for the refuse containers (6), and can be pivoted via at least one pivot lever (9) which is connected in a rotationally fixed manner to the tilting shaft (4) and, in its basic position, projects upwards, and having a slotted guide means (12) which is fixed to the framework, is intended for the pivot lever (9) and forms a run-on track (14), running transversely with respect to the vertical guide (2), for a guide member (10) assigned to the pivot lever (9). In order to ensure advantageous tilting conditions, it is proposed that the pivot lever (9) or an additional pivot lever of the tilting shaft (4) have a further guide member (11) which, in relation to the tilting shaft (4), is offset at an angle with respect to the other guide member (10) counter to the tilting direction for emptying the refuse containers (6) and interacts with a separate guide slot (13) which is located above the run-on track (14) for the other guide member (10). <IMAGE>
