PURPOSE:To make it possible to adjust plural units of molded carbonaceous articles filled in the same graphitization furnace to optional graphitization characteristics which have been considered difficult, by controlling difference in graphitization degree depending on the facing cross-sectional area of the molded carbonaceous articles. CONSTITUTION:A graphitization furnace consists of a furnace body 1 constructed of furnace wall brick and terminal electrodes 2 installed at both end parts in the furnace axis direction. For example, three molded carbonaceous articles 3, 3' and 3'' are placed in series in the furnace body 1 with ends thereof in a state of contact with the terminal electrodes 2 and the opposite surfaces in the electric conductive direction are set at a cross-sectional area according to a desired graphitization degree at this time. In the process, a difference in level is produced in mutual contact surfaces 6 and 6' of the respective molded carbonaceous articles 3, 3' and 3'' by a difference in cross-sectional area to cause trouble in even distribution of applied electric power to each molded carbonaceous article. Therefore, graphite attachment members 4 are brought into contact with side parts of the respective contact surfaces 6 and 6' of the molded carbonaceous articles 3, 3' and 3''. |
