PURPOSE:To provide an image forming apparatus in which, when a malfunction occurs in an image quality, a part of a cause of the malfunction is sensed and displayed in an electrophoto-graphic type image forming apparatus and a method for self-diagnosing in the image forming apparatus. CONSTITUTION:A surface potential of a photosensitive member 4 is measured by potential measuring means 16. Density of toner adhered to a surface of the member is measured by density measuring means 17. A measured result is compared with preset condition by a CPU (arithmetic unit) 21, and a position of a cause of an image malfunction is displayed on a cover unit 35 based on it. |
