DEVICE TO REMOVE IMPURITIES FROM AIR

PURPOSE:To provide a device to remove impurities from air with high ionization efficiency of impurities and high recovery efficiency of ionized impurities. CONSTITUTION:The subject device to remove impurities from air is so constituted that air containing impurities conducted into a chamber 8 is irradiated using a soft X ray for impurity ionization, and the ionized impurities are recovered by adjacent plate electrodes 31, between which an electric field is formed. Cleaning liquid is allowed to run on the surface of the plate electrode 31 to such an extend that the concentration of impurities in the liquid does not become saturated. Therefore, it is possible to maintain high recovery efficiency of the impurities. In addition, no ozone develops as the soft X ray is used and this device can be applied to inflammable gas.
