PURPOSE:To obtain a new compound useful as an antimicrobial agent, an antitumor agent, a therapeutic agent for AIDS, etc. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I (R<1> is H or lower alkyl; R<2> is H or lower alkyl; R<3> is H, lower alkyl, lower alkanoyl, etc.; R<4> is lower alkoxy, lower alkylthio or cyano) such as 7-(3-amino-4-methylene-1-pyrrolidinyl)-1- cyclopropyl-6-fluoro-1,4-dihydro-8-methoxy-4-oxoquinoline-3-carboxylic acid. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting a 7-halogenoquinoline-3 carboxylic acid derivative of formula II (X is halogen) with a pyrrolidine derivative of formula III in a solvent (e.g. DMF) optionally in the presence of a base (e.g. triethylamine) under cooling to a temperature capable of refluxing the solvent. |
