PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst for diester carbonate synthesis which has high catalytic activity and hardly loses activity even in the presence of water by using a specific metal compound consisting of two metallic atoms of the fourth or the 14th group of the periodic table through an oxygen atom. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst for diester carbonate synthesis is obtained by blending at least one type of metallic compound expressed by formula (M1, M2 are the same or different, indicating metallic atoms of the fourth of the 14th group of the periodic table; R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 and R6 are the same or different, indicating an alkyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an aryl group, a hydroxyl group, an alkoxy group, a cycloalkyloxy group, an aryloxy group, an acyloxy group, an isocyanate group, an isothiocyanate group or a halogen atom). This catalyst for diester carbonate synthesis has high catalystic activity and also hardly loses activity and shows high functional stability even in the presence of water. Consequently, this catalyst is used as an optimal reaction catalyst for obtaining dimethyl carbonate from alcohol and carbon dioxide. |
