<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the subject ink which is free from poor ink delivery and makes it possible to reduce the cost of image forming equipment by incorporating a specified solid forming agent and an alkali metal, an amine or an ammonium compound into an ink which contains water and a coloring material and then making the mixture alkaline. CONSTITUTION:An ink containing water and a coloring material, which also contains (1) a solid forming agent having a melting point of 40 deg.C or higher and containing at least one functional group which is selected from a carboxyl group and a sulfo group and can form an alkali metal salt or an ammonium salt (2) at least one compound selected from an alkali metal, an amine and an ammonium compound, and (3) a buffer which serves to keep the ink alkaline. This ink can be used not only for an ink jet printer but also for, e.g. writing by delivering the ink from an ink storage body to a pen point by capillarity. It can also be used widely for image forming equipment such as a copier and a facsimile machine.</p> |
