PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst for combustion with has less thermal deterioration when used at a high temperature and is free from activity diminution during steady-state combustion after long time use at a high temperature by baking a molding of silica and alumina to prepare a heat-resistant inorganic porous carrier with a large specific surface area, and allowing metal such as Pd to be carried by a carrier. CONSTITUTION:A blend molding containing 5 to 25wt.% of silica and the remainder of alumina is baked in air at 1200 deg.C to prepare a heat-resistant inorganic porous carrier having a specific surface area of 50<2>/g min. In addition, the carrier is allowed to carry at least, one type selected from the group consisting of Pd or Pd and Ti, Mg and Mn. Further, the quantity of Pd to be carried is 0.1 to 5wt.% for the weight of a carrier. The quantity of at least, one type to be carried which is selected from Ti, Mg and Mn, is 0.08 to 1wt.% for the weight of the carrier. Next, the carrier is allowed to carry Pd and Ti, and the quantity of Ti to be carried is 5 to 30wt.% of the quantity of Pd to be carried. Consequently, it is possible to obtain a catalyst for burning with superb heat resistance at a high temperature. |
