IMPROVEMENT OF WATER REPELLENCY OF FLUOROPOLYMER MOLDING

摘要

PURPOSE:To improve the surface water repellency and durability of a fluoropolymer molding by roughening the surface of the molding and bringing its surface into contact with a specified gas. CONSTITUTION:This improvement process comprises roughening the surface of a fluoropolymer (e.g. polytetrafluoroethylene) molding desirably by a mechanical treatment (e.g. treatment with a wire brush) or an electrical treatment (e.g. low-temperature plasma sputtering) to a surface roughness of 0.1-50mum in terms of a centerline average roughness (Ra) for a mechanical treatment and a surface roughness Ra of 0.1-2.0mum for an electrical treatment and bringing this surface into contact with a fluorine gas.
