PURPOSE:To provide antimicrobial fibers consisting of silver or copper alginate, having antibacterial capability in itself, thus capable of preventing propagating sundry germs or fungi. CONSTITUTION:Silver nitrate or copper sulfate is made to act on fibrous alginic acid gel produced by spinning from sodium alginate to replace the hydrogen ion of the alginic acid by the antibacterial silver or copper ion, thus obtaining the antibacterial fibers having antibacterial capability in itself. Application of the fibers to the filters in the purifiers for domestic drinking water can prevent propagating sundry germs or fungi in drinking water even without the need for passing the water through such filters, thus always obtaining clean drinking water. |
