PURPOSE: To control a constitution cross-section of a web of fibers for a paper making machine so as to bring it close to an ideal cross-section as much as possible. CONSTITUTION: The method of preparing a web of fibers, particularly a method of manufacturing a web of a paper includes a step of distributing a fiber suspension uniformly on a sieve or between two sieves by a fiber storage over the width of the machine and a step of removing most of the moisture of the fiber suspension on the sieve or between the two sieves in a dehydration zone. In order to sectionally control the level of retention degree a retention agent of a partially different amount is mixed with the suspension.
