This seal is of the type consisting of a putty based on uncrosslinked butyl rubber which comes in the form of a strip which has a generally rectangular shape in cross-section. According to the invention, it comprises longitudinal grooves (12-13) formed in each of its two large contact and sealing faces (14a-14b), these grooves giving it, at least locally, a sawtooth (serrated) transverse profile, the profile of one face being offset by approximately one half pitch with respect to the profile of the other face, so that each groove (12) in one profile corresponds to a space (15) between grooves in the other profile. <IMAGE>
