PURPOSE:To obtain an optical packet switch able to extract address information from a high speed optical packet and to select its output destination. CONSTITUTION:Optical pulses 22-1-22-4 having different optical frequencies f1-f4 close to a predetermined optical frequency fs synchronously with an optical pulse forming a header 21a of an optical packet 21 having a predetermined optical frequency fs are inputted to a nonlinear medium 11 together with the optical packet 21. Then the optical signal converting the presence of the optical pulse on a time axis of the header 21a into the presence of new optical frequencies g1-g4 is generated based on a nonlinear event called 4-wave mixing and the signal is separated by optical filters 12-1-12-6. Thus, the address information of the header 21a is converted into optical signals 23-1 23-4 representing the presence of the optical pulses in parallel spacially. |
