PURPOSE:To extract the edge of an original from a color picture data reading the original by a color copying machine or the like. CONSTITUTION:Respective calculation parts 201 to 205 find out frightness, saturation and R, G, B chromaticity values based upon RGB data inputted from a color picture input device (color scanner) 100 and resepctie threshold calculating parts 206 to 211 determine the thresholds of the depth of brightness, saturation and RGB chromaticity troughs based upon the histograms of respective through depth values. An edge extracting part 212 extracts a brightness through point which is not deeper than the threshold of the saturation of RGB chromaticity out of brightness trough points extracted from a brightness through point extracting part 207 and having depth deeper than the threshold as an edge chandiate point and sends the coordinates of the extracted point to a color picture processor 300. |
