摘要 PURPOSE: To obtain linearity of an improved microtrack profile of a servo element and stable data sensing element of linearity suitable for high density tape head applications. CONSTITUTION: Stability and uniformity of both of a data sensor element 34 and a servo sensor element 36 are improved by using lattice profiles under both of a soft film bias type magnetic resistance sensor layer and hard bias stabilized magnets 50, 52. A lattice pattern for the servo sensor element is duplicated by penetrating a thick layer of alumina or silicon dioxide. An outside read shield is removed from the servo element by using a stripping process eliminating structural damage caused from an alumina pinhole. Significant Barkhauzen noise is not contained since there are lattice stabilizing magnetic domains in both of active magnetic reluctance regions and passive hard bias regions of respective sensors. In order to optimize a microtrack profile, respective servo sensors are arranged at places remote from a single shield.
