A carrier mounting device for mounting a carrier element (200) across the roof of an automotive vehicle so as to provide a load carier comprises a body (2) which rests against the roof of the vehicle via a tiltably attached support plate (4), a clamping device (5) which functions to releasably lock the device to the carrier element (200), and a holding element (100) for attaching the device to an edge part (103) of the vehicle roof. A swingable clamp arm (8) functions to bring the clamping device (5) into and out of engagement with the carrier element (200). A swingable latching arm (9) functions to bring the holding element (100) into and out of engagement with the edge-part (103) of the vehicle roof. A swingable locking arm (7) functions to bring an accessory locking device (6) to a locked and to a released state respectively. The locking arm (7) can be swung to its locking position provided that the clamp arm (8) and the latching arm (9) are in their respective abutment and engagement positions, in which locking position the locking arm (7) functions to prevent maneuvring of both the clamp arm and the latching arm (9). |
